Dress codes: what would you wear if you....?


Yvonne and Alice talk about dress codes and what types of clothes are suitable for work. The Ukrainian government has recently published dress codes for men and women, suggesting that certain styles of dress are unacceptable for work. So what is acceptable?

This week's question:
Which African country banned men from wearing western-style suits and ties to show it had broken links with its colonial past?

Men are the weaker sex...




Traditionally, women are generally known as 'the weaker sex' so people say they need to be protected. However, in terms of health, women are the strong, healthy ones - so, men are supposedly the weaker sex. Yvonne and Rob have been discussing this.

This week's question:

Compared with the early 1960s, each year, the number of men who enter medical schools in the UK has doubled. But how many women enter medical school each year?

Proyecto de trabajo multidisciplinar "La Industrialización, el siglo XIX"

Este es un proyecto de trabajo en grupo en colaboración con distintos departamentos de un hipotético curso de 4º de la ESO. El departamento de inglés en colaboración, entre otros, con los departamentos de Valenciano, Historia e Informática va a realizar la siguiente actividad:

1. Visionado de la película "Gulliver's Travels" de 1 hora y 12 minutos de duración.
2. Exposición de un resúmen en Power Point sobre la película (trabajo en equipo)

Antes de llevar a cabo dicha actividad, en el área de historia han tratado el tema de los viajes de descubrimiento en el siglo XIX y su importancia, y en el área de lengua valenciana habrán visto los rasgos más importantes del romanticismo. En las clases de informática les habrán explicado cómo organizar un Power Point.

5th Week: 17-20 October

Hi pupils!!!! I'm preparing the classes for this week, and we are going to listen and work about this wonderful song: Candy. Here you are the two versions, we will listen to both of them and fill in the gaps. Then you will tell me which one you like the most (and why):





From now on we are going to learn some techniques to be fluent in English. Each week our friend A.J. Hoge is going to give us some interesting tips about how to improve our level of English. Please listen to the following video and answer the following questions:

This week is very very short: we are enjoying a very long weekend!!!!
That's the way we say in English "puente": not bridge, but "long weekend".

3rd Week: 4-7 October

- We are going to learn how to start a conversation

- We are going to practice the Present Perfect and Past Simple distinction

2nd Week: 27 - 30 September

- In episode 3 Orange meets a Tomato, although he thinks it is an apple...
